About
Hi, I’m Diogo.
I studied computer science at IST Lisbon, with a focus on data science and machine learning, and a semester of computational neuroscience at EPFL. My master’s research turned into a published teleconsultation platform for depressive disorders, and then into conversations with VCs and the Portuguese NHS about taking it to market.
Today I work at the meeting point of LLMs, product and clinical teams: building systems people rely on, and the evaluation and monitoring that keep them trustworthy. Before all of this, I spent six years in Sporting’s football academy.

Experience

Senior ML Engineer, knokcare
First Data and AI hire at one of Europe’s largest telemedicine companies, reporting to the CTO. Lead LLM-based initiatives from idea to production with clinical and product teams, and built the platform to orchestrate, deploy, evaluate and monitor them. Also built the analytics platform the company uses for data-driven decisions. Mentored a team of 3 engineers, plus 3 interns and a master’s thesis.

Built a company concept around a real-world problem and pitched it to Faber’s VC team.

Built a full-stack platform for real-time assessment of mental health disorders during video consultations, published in IEEE Access.
